Can Vaccines Lead To ADHD?

Aug 18, 2017

Vaccination, or immunization, is a recommended form of protection against certain preventable diseases. But, the ingredients present in some of these vaccines can also harm the human body. There have been speculations among scientists on whether the mercury and aluminum found in vaccines can lead to Attention Deficiency Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). The side effects of mercury depend on a variety of factors, including its form and dose, and the age of the person being exposed.

Thimerosal and Its Adverse Effects

Out of all the toxins in vaccines that have been discussed in various medical panels, the one that comes up the most is Thimerosal. It comprises of ethyl mercury. Thimerosal is used to prevent microbes from forming and slipping into the needle when it breaks the seal of the vaccine bottle. While only traces of Thimerosal remain in the bottle, even a small amount of it can increase the risk of ADHD. Although it has been removed from most vaccines since 1999, some flu vaccines still contain this substance.

Vaccines With Thimerosal (Mercury)

It has been found that Thimerosal contains 49.6% mercury, by weight.  Here are some that include Thimerosal.

  1. All DTwP products – Diphtheria, Tetanus and Whole-cell Pertussis
  2.  Diphtheria and Tetanus multi-vial shots
  3.  All Tetanus Toxoid vaccines
  4. Meningococcal multi-dose vials
  5. All seasonal and swine flu vaccines given to adults and children aged over three
  6. Japanese Encephalitis or the JE-Vax

Just like with every medication, it is always better to practice caution before their consumption. Take the advice of a medical professional before subjecting yourself, or your child, to vaccines containing Thimerosal.
